Our Story

It was the passion we have for dance that brought us together 10 years ago. We met at a salsa club and the magical feeling that came over us, after just a few steps, has never left ! Soon after, we discovered that we could not “dance our life” without each other. Four years later we were married!

Over the years, our relationship has grown stronger. Our marriage is based on mutual respect, loyalty and a great sense of humor. Together, we have learned that happiness is about appreciating each moment in life. We can’t wait to open our hearts to another child and share with him or her this and many more important values.

Marie-José by Miguel:

Marie-José is a native of France and spent part of her childhood in Africa. Teaching is her passion as she loves encouraging and guiding children to be the best they can be. Her schedule allows her to take large amounts of time off and will allow her to spend plenty of time with our baby. She is dedicated to education and exposing our children to whatever extracurricular activities they enjoy. Once we are blessed with a baby, she will make plans to stay home with him or her and later return to teaching part-time.

Miguel by Marie-José:

Miguel was born and raised in Mexico. He is strong, courageous and possesses an open mind. He is very dedicated to his patients who come to the Dialysis clinic where Miguel works as a Patient Care Technician. His passion for taking care of people has motivated him to further his education in nursing. His patience shines through when he is helping our son Maël do his homework or when they are working together on his science project. His dream is to become a daddy again.

Maël:

Maël is Marie-José’s son from a previous marriage. He is enthusiastic, creative and sensitive. He is happy whether he is drawing dragons, climbing trees or reading Garfield.

He loves fishing with his grandpa in France where he likes to visit every summer. He looks forward to the day he can play the piano with a brother or sister and show him or her his collection of minerals. He has benefited in so many ways from the blending of our two cultures and is on his way to becoming trilingual. Although, we cherish every day we spend with him, our hearts long for another baby to love.

Family and friends:

Diversity is in the center of our life. Our families and friends possess very diverse beliefs and are made up of many cultures and ethnicities. We love to celebrate Christmas and “La Posada” with Miguel’s relatives who live close by. We are blessed to have many siblings which give us the opportunity to spend great moments together as a family. We would love for Maël to experience the same closeness with a brother or sister as we did. We go to France and Mexico once a year to visit our families and friends. We can’t wait to introduce a new child to our cultures.

Family Activities:

We enjoy an active lifestyle and spend a lot of time outdoors whether it be walking in the hills, going to the beach or swimming. We also like relaxing at home watching “Ratatouille” or playing UNO in front of our fireplace. Marie-José loves to snuggle with Maël while reading his favorite books and looks forward to adding another reading buddy to join in the fun.

Home:

We live in San Rafael, California, 30 minutes North of San Francisco.
Our home is colorful and cozy with a sunny bedroom waiting to be transformed into a beautiful nursery. Our house is surrounded by hills where we like to go hiking and is also close to scenic parks where we enjoy playing Frisbee. We love to spend time at our community swimming pool where the neighborhood kids like to swim and play.
